Polk County Elementary Showcase

The Polk County Elementary Showcase is select group of the top 4th and 5th grade musicians from around Polk County. This event consists four performing ensembles: Girl Choir, Boy Choir, Strings, and ORFF Ensemble.

There are two evening rehearsals, an all day rehearsal, and then an evening performance to show off the students' hard work.

Participating students are required to stay for the entire performance. The end of the evening will conclude with a joint performance of all the ensembles. The concert is free and open to the public. Parents and families are encouraged to get to the concert early. There are about 400 students so parking and seating can fill up fast.

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule

April 16 ~ First Rehearsal ~ Chain of Lakes Elementary School
4:00 p.m. - Parents and Students load vehicles and depart for Chain of Lakes Elementary
5:00 p.m. - Arrive at Chain of Lakes Elementary. Assist with moving instruments and setting up rehearsal spaces.
5:30 - 7:00 p.m. - Rehearsals
7:00 p.m. - Students are promptly picked up from Chain of Lakes Elementary.

May 2 ~ Second Rehearsal ~ Florida Southern College, Branscomb Auditorium
4:00 p.m. - Parents and Students load vehicles and depart for Branscomb Auditorium
5:00 p.m. - Arrive at Branscomb Auditorium. Assist with moving instruments and setting up rehearsal spaces.
6:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Rehearsals
7:00 p.m. - Students are promptly picked up from Branscomb Auditorium.

May 3 ~ ALL DAY Rehearsal ~ Florida Southern College, Branscomb Auditorium

6:30 a.m. - Parents and Students depart from Home for Branscomb Auditorium
7:30 a.m. - Arrive at Branscomb Auditorium. Assist with moving instruments and setting up rehearsal spaces.
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Rehearsals
3:00 p.m. - Students are promptly picked up from Branscomb Auditorium.

May 3 ~ PERFORMANCE ~ Florida Southern College, Branscomb Auditorium

6:15 p.m. - Parents find parking at Branscomb Auditorium
6:30 p.m. - Students meet in assigned pre-concert space at Branscomb Auditorium. Parents find seating for family to watch performance.
7:00 p.m. - Performance - Parents attend.

Lunch (All Day Rehearsal)

On May 6th (the All Day rehearsal), students will board school buses and depart for a fast food restaurant near Florida Southern College. Some buses will be going to McDonald's while others go to Wendy's. Students MUST ride the bus. Parents that wish to eat with their child bus drive separate following the bus. Students will need to bring $5-10 for their meal.
