On Saturday, October 21, 2017 the Florida Bandmasters Association will have the 2017 Marching Band MPA. The event will take place at Denison Stadium in Winter Haven. Denison stadium is located behind Denison Middle School. Students are encouraged to attend this event with their families for extra credit. It is a great time to see one of the many opportunities students will have in high school through their band program. The proceeds from the gate will help offset the cost that our program will have to pay towards Solo and Ensemble festival in the Spring. This is a fun evening that I am sure the whole family will enjoy.
This year several of our DSA students will be performing for the National Anthem Middle School Honor Band to open up the festivities. *All students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while at the event. What to Bring:Sweatshirt - it tends to get cooler in the stands as the evening gets darker.
Money – Depending on where you park, there may be a parking fee. Admission to the event is $5 students and $8 adults. There is a concession stand inside for when you get hungry. Stadium Cushion - The stadium seats get hard after a few hours. Some people like to bring a cushion to make it more comfortable. 5:15 PM - National Anthem – Middle School Honor Band

Frostproof Jr/Sr High School The Band will be performing their 2016 Field Show, "Music of Chicago". Their musical selections will include: Make Me Smile, Saturday in the Park, Hard to Say I'm Sorry, and Get Away. The Band is under direction of Band Director Alex Belliveau and Drum Major Lauren Eubanks. 5:45 pm Tenoroc High School The Tenoroc Titan Regiment has a tradition of Excellence. Students work hard every day to bring this band to the next level. Band teaches students how to be accountable to one another, responsibility and what it means to work hard. This year the Tenoroc high school Marching Titan regiment present their 2016 halftime show titled "four chords". We know you will recognize the songs performed this evening! These four chords are the basis for hundreds of popular recognizable tunes!! Band Director is Michael Hill, Assistant Band Director is Mrs. Shing Palagano, Guard Instructor is Mrs. Tracy Fender, Assistant Guard Instructor is Dr. Beverly Wixon, Woodwind tech is Ms. Carole Leidi, High Brass tech is Mr. Klae Peek, Low Brass tech is Ms. Emily Tirado, Percussion Instructor is Mr. Rocky Salas. The band is under the leadership of Drum Majors Kevin Britt and Matthew Novak. Band captain is Victor Sanchez. Brass Captain is Angelie Candelaria. Woodwind Captain is Torie Poole. Drum Captain is Matthew Novak The Band would like to thank everyone for their support this evening so please sit, enjoy and by all means, rock out to our 2016 show! 6:00 pm Haines City High School The Haines City High School Emerald Brigade will be performing their 2016 production "Latin Fire". The show has three movements "La Suerte De Los Tontos", "Tequilla", and "Malaguena". The Emerald Brigade includes members from both Haines City High School and Haines City IB World School. The Principal of Haines City High Schooi/IB World School is Adam Lane with Assistant Principals AI McDaniel, Stephen Scheloske, Jason Shick, and Amanda Robinson. We would like to thank the HCHS Administration for their outstanding support of our program. The Emerald Brigade is under the direction of Mr. John Buckley. Staff members include: Steven Martinez and Christa Cuff. Drum Majors for 2016 are Gabrielle Ortiz, and Carl Boquerin. Band Captain is Michael Nieves and Color Guard Captain is Karina Santos. 6:15 pm Fort Meade Jr/Sr High School For your musical enjoyment, the Fort Meade Fighting Miner Band is proud to present their 2016 show entitled "The Lost Boys". This year's show is dedicated to band member Alex Stewart who suddenly lost his life this summer. The band is under the field direction of Allison Yopp and Karina Ramirez. Soloists include Nathan Badillo, Allison Yopp, Josh Lyle and Austin Palacios. 6:30 pm Auburndale High School The Imperial Sound of Auburndale is pleased to present their 2016 halftime show entitled, "Sun, Moon, Stars.” The Imperial Sound takes you through the journey of morning to night opening with Smash Mouth’s Walking on the Sun into Van Morrison’s Moondance, and closing with Coldplay’s Sky Full of Stars. The music was arranged by Tony Mayato, Brendan Nagy and Hannah Haugen; drill was written by Chris Bonner. Soloists include Brandon Collins on Alto Saxophone and Ryan Perry on Mellophone. The Imperial Sound would like to thank the Auburndale community, ISA band parents, and Principal Mr. John Hill and Mrs. Dynes for their support. We would also like to thank Terrel Webb and Mr. Suit for their work with the Imperial Sound in film and announcing. Band staff members include Nicholas DeBadts guard instructor and Brendan Nagy percussion instructor. The band is under the direction of drum major Hailey Auterson and director of bands Ms. Hannah Haugen. 6:45 pm Lake Region High School Tonight’s field performance features smash hits, including Daft Punk Medley as performed by Pentatonix, Pompeii by Bastille, and My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark by Fall Out Boy. Sound of Thunder officers include Band Colonel Alden Baird, Drum Major Aaron Orloff, Brass Captain Blake Barnhill, Woodwind Captain Jaslyn Fletcher, Drum Captains Michael Thompson and Carson Warner, and Administrative Assistants Javier Covington and Maiah Barnett. The Director of Bands is Luke Hart. Sound of Thunder staff includes Assistant Director Allison Lund, Brass Technician Alex Irizarry, Woodwind Technician Brendan Howell, and Percussion Technician Tim Perry. The Principal of Lake Region High School is Dr. Deborah Kindel. 7:00 pm Ridge Community High School Since its establishment in 2005, the Ridge Community High School Silver Regiment has proudly served the Davenport/Haines City area of Polk County. For their 2016 Production the Silver Regiment presents "Dreams": A Journey of Hope, Adventure, and Peace. The Silver Regiment would like to take a moment to recognize Principal Russ Donnelly, Assistant Principals Angela Clark, Josh Hackett, Karen Johnson, and Gregory Lewis for their ardent support of the RCHS Band Program. The Silver Regiment is led by Drum Majors Jessica Cason, Santina Ortiz and Band Captain Steven Vierbickas. The Band Directors are Will Vizoso and Philip Holt. When you follow your dreams, the possibilities are endless! 7:45 pm George Jenkins High School George Jenkins High School is in its twenty fourth year of existence with the 2016-2017 school year. During that time the “Dream Maker” Band has established a strong reputation of the highest musical quality. To continue that tradition, this year’s ensemble proudly presents our field show entitled; “An American Celebration” The George Jenkins High School band staff consists of Dennis LoCurcio; Band Director, Debbie Kee; Color Guard Instructor, Anna Whitman; Marching Coordinator, & Jeff Smith; Percussion Instructor. This year’s band President is Miss Amelia Vanwinkle and the band Vice President is Anna Essayian. The band is led on the field by Drum Major’s Faith Smith & Aaliyah Watkins. We hope you enjoy the show! 8:00 pm Winter Haven High School “The Pride” of Winter Haven presents its 2016 halftime show entitled “007” featuring music from some of your favorite James Bond movies. The show begins with the secretive and exciting “James Bond Theme”. We continue with Adele’s hit song “Skyfall” from the critically acclaimed movie. We close our 2016 show with “Goldfinger” originally sung by the incomparable Shirley Bassey, and Paul McCartney and Wing’s anthem “Live and Let Die”. The Director of “The Pride” is Daniel Farr, the assistant director is Kasey Skoll and the Devilette instructor is Jenni Berry. “The Pride” is under the field direction of Drum Major Ambria Persaud. The band would like to thank our booster parents for the tireless efforts, as well as Bill Hatley, Principal Mrs. Gina Williams, and Assistant Principals, Renee Dart and Jerrilynn Bush, for their unending support in making possible everything we do! 8:15 pm Mulberry High School Over the years the Mulberry High School Panther Band has experienced a tremendous amount of success. This year will be no different! The Panther Band regularly performs at various community events, and will continue to be present in the Mulberry Community this fall and in the spring. Our show this year takes us to the streets of New York City where a man and a woman who are members of opposing street gangs fall in love. Leonard Bernstein wrote this modern musical portrayal of Romeo and Juliet entitled West Side Story. The music is iconic and distinctly American! Selections include Tonight, America, Jet Song, One Hand One Heart, and closing with Somewhere. We hope you enjoy, WEST SIDE STORY! The 2015 Panther Band is under the field direction of Senior Drum Major Lucero Saldierna. The Band Captain is Rudy Castro. The Band Staff includes our Colorguard Instructor-Mr. Brett Stalnaker, Percussion Instructor-Mr. JJ Wren, Assistant Marching Band Director-Ms. Katie Hileman, and Director of Bands - Mr. Michael Keogh. The Principal of Mulberry High School is Mr. Michael Young. The Panther Band would like to thank the parents, administration, and community of Mulberry for their continued support. 8:30 pm Lake Gibson High School This year’s competition half-time show is themed Euro Rock and features the music from three British Rock Bands. We open with Uprising, which is a major hit from the band MUSE and will start out with our percussion section and feature our low brass, horns, and woodwinds. Next we move onto the RADIOHEAD smash hit Creep which will feature guard soloist Tabatha Allen. Finally we will conclude our program with COLDPLAY’s popular song Viva La Vida featuring our color guard. Keep your eyes and ears open for exciting twists and turns as we present these great tunes to you. The Lake Gibson Band staff this year includes: Director Mr. Sean Luce, Color Guard Instructor Ms. Paige Testerman, Percussion Instructor Mr. Ernie Carr, Staff Assistants, Mr. Bryan O’Steen, Mr. Mike McElwain, Tabitha Gabbard, Jeff Gabbard, and Lori Baranowski. The Principal of Lake Gibson High School is Mr. Ryan Vann. The band is under the field direction of Drum Majors Kara Bachowski and Sydney Mumbauer. 8:45 pm Bartow Senior High School The Yellow Jacket Band is known for bringing creative and original marching shows to the field. For the 2016 season, the band will be performing its show called “Champions”. The show pulls melodies from the movie soundtracks of Gladiator, Troy, and Conan, as well as music from E.S. Posthumus and the rock band Queen. The show celebrates the successes of Bartow High School as well as embracing the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. The show will feature soloists Jared Drake on Alto Saxophone and Jeremy Jones on Oboe. The Bartow Yellow Jacket Band is comprised of students from Bartow Senior, International Baccalaureate, and Summerlin Academy and is proud to represent the Bartow community. The 2016 Drum Majors are Julian Grubb, Jeremy Jones, and Junior Drum Major Katlyn Wallace. The Marching instructor is Alex Gesselman. Color Guard Instructors are Dan Eger, Wilmer Silvia, and Kristin Vera. The Percussion Instructors are Mitchell Paulk and Tyler Cassick. The Brass instructor is Brian Haymans and the band director of Bands is Jon Eckman. The Yellow Jacket Band thanks the community of Bartow for its continued support. We hope you enjoy the show. 9:00 pm Lakeland Senior High School The Lakeland High School Dreadnaught Band is in its 93rd year of existence and is 154 members strong. The Dreadnaught Band’s 2016 show is titled “The Quest for the Throne” featuring the music of “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” arr. by Jay Bocook, “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss”, and “Game of Thrones” arr. by Larry Clark. The Head Drum Major is Elizabeth Rivera, Assistant Drum Major is Brianna Lynch, Band Colonel is Nick Filipkowski, Lt. Colonel is Nicole Nichols, Drum Captain is Joseph Williams, Color Guard Captain(s) are Sydney Braggs and D’Vion Keels, and the Majorette Captains are Emily Lungmus and Natalie Ruhl. The Dreadnaught Band is proud to recognize LHS Principal Arthur Martinez, as well as Assistant Principals Lori McKown and Leigh Guenther for their invaluable support and encouragement. The band staff is comprised of Chris Mayes and Brandon Lopez, Percussion Instructors; Erik Nordstrom, Guard Instructor; Carla Holcomb and Coral Holcomb, Majorette Instructors; Rob Lambert, Marching Instructor; Colin Hansen, Assistant Marching Band Director; Zachary Murdock, Director of Bands. 9:15 pm Joe E. Newsome High School The Joe E. Newsome High School Wolfpack Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Michael J. Miller and is proud to present their 2016 production, "Solaris" a celebration of the sun. This year's Wolfpack Band is 163 members strong and is lead onto the field by Drum Majors Megan Wright, Mark Laurie, Abby Hall, and Stephen Gibbons. The bands at Joe E. Newsome High School regularly receive superior ratings at district and state music performance assessments. In October 2015 the Wolfpack Marching Band was named regional grand champions at the Bands of America regional in Newark, Delaware, and this November Wolfpack Marching Band will represent the great state of Florida in the 90th anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
